“ Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Our host, Kai, greeted us like old friends and found a charming booth for two, despite our arriving without reservations. Our adorable server, Madi, was the perfect mix of friendly, funny and competent. The ‘adult candy’ appetizer (bacon-wrapped date, stuffed with Gorgonzola and drizzled with honey) was fabulous, and the Herbert filets were tender and perfectly cooked . . . the green peppercorn demi-glaze on the outside was a nice touch. Five stars across the board. Why can’t every restaurant experience be like this? ”

“ Absolutely AMAZING experience! From the moment we sat down, everything was top-notch. I want to give a huge shout-out to our server Keyna (apologies if I misspelled your name), because she truly went above and beyond for my 6-year-old daughter. She helped us customize my daughter’s meal, made thoughtful substitutions, and genuinely cared that she enjoyed her food. That kind of service is rare—and it mattered. The food was fantastic, but the staff made the experience unforgettable. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming across the board. Keyna was patient, kind, and an absolute pro—she made our meal stress-free and genuinely enjoyable. From meal substitutions for my daughter to being knowledgeable about the whiskeys for me , Keyna had us covered . We will 100% be back, and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring family and friends. If you’re in Durango, do yourself a favor and eat here. Outstanding food, even better people, and service that actually lives up to the hype. ”

“ A fine dining experience right on Main Street in Durango. We arrived at 5 pm and were seated promptly without a reservation. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, and the manager also checked on us as well as the other patrons. I had the elk tenderloin with cherry demi sauce, and it was phenomenal. It was served with a small sweet potato and mixed vegetables. One friend had a surf and turf, and another had a steak. Everyone enjoyed their main course. However, one friend was not satisfied with her loaded potato. She said it was cold, and when she added additional butter, it didn't melt because of it being cold. For dessert, we had a cheesecake that was creamy and delicious and the toffee cake. It had a beautiful presentation with warm toffee, vanilla ice cream, and whip cream. The cake was not my favorite, but overall, we enjoyed our dining experience. ”

“ We stopped here to celebrate our anniversary during a road trip across NM, AZ, UT & CO. We had been to the Strater and Diamond Bell but happened across Mahogany Grill. Our dinner and service was exceptional. Our server was covering too many tables but still was very good. Our meal was one of the best we've ever enjoyed. We enjoyed prosceso, a martini, an amazing chai infused old fashioned, steak Herbert, elk tenderloins, flourless chocolate cake and maple bread pudding. It was quite busy in Durango the Friday we were there but we were able to get reservations at an earlier dinner time which is our preference. We always pick restaurants that allow reservations. When we return to Durango this will definitely be a return visit ”

“ What a fun experience. The staff was so kind and the service was extremely quick. The drinks were not my favorite but I think that’s more of a personal issue. The food was cooked the exact way we asked for it was delicious. It came out really fast as well. I would highly recommend. ”

“ Our dinner at The Mahogany Grille at The Strater Hotel was an enjoyable experience. The food was good, but not outstanding. Our server was adequate in her service. I didn't feel that she did more than take our order and make sure that we received our food. We did enjoy the ambiance of the old hotel dining room. It was quite nice. My overall impression was that this is pretty much an average restaurant in a nice setting. Somewhat over priced for what we received. I think next time I'll plan to eat in the bar. ”

“ Hostess seated us quickly w/o reservations (thank you) she was friendly and our server, Charlie was fantastic. He answered all our questions and was very accommodating during our meal! I had the rainbow trout and it was A-mazing! Delicious & perfectly cooked. My baked potato was a little dry but it wasn’t the end of the world. Hubby had the rigatoni and that was good as well. Love the atmosphere here in the Strader Hotel! It’s magical Prices are reasonable given the area and you won’t leave disappointed. The portions are perfect! ”

“ Great experience. Beet salad was awesome, we added the adult candy to it and it was superb. Then we had mussels and they were sublime. Whatever's on the baguette is divine. We shared the duck entree and they split it for us and we absolutely had a perfect meal. And we are snobby about dinner... the curry on the ducks side with the bbq Korean duck vibe somehow really worked even though we were hella skeptical. 5 stars. Oh, and David our waiter was awesome. He brought us some wine to sample and his recommendation was the winner. do it and order what I just told you. Ps) chai old fashioned ”
